EDUCATIONClaremont School Detailed Design
Loop Engineering were appointed to undertake the detailed design of the new Claremont School on Claremont Road in North London and are starting Stage 3 imminently. The school is a new three form entry primary school including an ARP (Additional Resource Provision) unit and nursery on site.
The development includes a new school on the site consisting of a multi-storey building (3 floors on west wing and 2 floors on the southern side of the site. The building is just under 4,000m2. The new building will require the demolition of the existing infant school and caretakers flat, but the junior school will remain in place until the new building is complete.
The phased nature of the construction requires existing utility supplies to be retained to the junior school and to other temporary teaching facilities and site accommodation, whilst new incoming services are required to the new school (Water, Gas, Electricity and Telecoms).
Heating is provided by a bivalent system consisting of air-source heatpumps supported by gas-fired boilers to provide heating and hot water. The school will be naturally ventilated to reduce running costs and will be fully compliant with DfE and all relevant Building Bulletins.
In addition to the full MEP design, Loop Engineering have also undertaken full thermal modelling, overheating analysis, daylight modelling and Acoustics.
The scheme is also on track to achieve a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ accreditation.
