LEISURE & CULTURERoyal Albert Hall Masterplan Projects & Resident Engineer Role
Loop Engineering have been entrusted with the technical support role on this landmark building and a home to world famous music concerts and performances.
Loop Engineering is involved in the construction of a new two story South-West basement project as well as a series of Masterplan projects, namely:
Existing steam heating system replacement including the 3MW boilers and entire low temperature hot water replacement
Displacement cooling to the upper tiers to improve the spectators’ comfort and experience
North Circle Bar refurbishment to host up to 160 people
Apart from these capital projects Loop Engineering acts for Royal Albert Hall as Resident Engineer responsible for modifications to existing MEP services to accommodate various shows and constantly changing requirements of the staff and businesses (bars, restaurant and retail) occupying the building.
This appointment is a great achievement for Loop Engineering which shows client’s trust in our engineering skills and capacity. At the same time it is a challenge for our engineers as working on a grate II building in such a confined part of the city comes with various difficulties.
Originally, Royal Albert Hall was designed by civil engineers Captain Francis Fowke and Major-General Henry Y.D. Scott of the Royal Engineers and built by Lucas Brothers. It was opened by Queen Victoria in 1871, its capacity reaches up to over 5,200 seats.
