Loop Engineering are proud to have long running relationships with clients in the Leisure and Culture sector, resulting from our proactive involvement in projects, technical skills and experience. We have extensive experience in restaurants, hotels, health clubs and high-end hospitality projects across the UK and Europe.
We have been involved as Royal Albert Hall’s MEP consultant since 2015 and have been an integral part of the delivery team and successfully delivered multiple complex projects. The listed nature of the building always needs to be sympathetically considered as part of all our designs.

PROJECTS DELIVERED OR UNDERWAYRoyal Albert Hall
South West Basement extension
This entailed the excavation down 2 floors to provide the Hall with much needed office and storage space, freeing up precious spaces that can be used to generate revenue.
Steam heating replacement project
Replacement of steam boilers and installation of all new LTHW pipework.
North Circle Bar
The complete refurbishment and replacement of MEP systems in the North Circle bar to increase occupancy and comfort levels.
Cooling to the Grand and Circle tiers
A long running project to introduce cooling to the seating areas in the upper areas of the Hall which regularly overheat during performances. This involved introducing a displacement ventilation system below the raked seating providing cool area into the auditorium. Heritage and fire related issues were key considerations.
New roof top chillers
The listed nature of the building meant that the chiller solution developed had to consider the visual appearance of any new plant. Multiple iterations were undertaken to arrive at a low impact solution hidden from view of the public and local residents.

Detailed MEP plant condition surveys and generation of 5-10 year PPM strategies
Boosted Cold Water services upgrades. Full upgrade of the existing BCWS

Life Safety System upgrades
This project focuses on upgrading the aged life safety systems in the entire building and entails complicated phasing and heritage considerations.
Audio System upgrades
Upgrade of audio systems to the auditorium and Boxes
Ventilation and filtration upgrades
With the focus on air quality and airborne transmission, we have been involved in a number of upgrade projects to increase fresh air volumes, improve air filtration and treatment.
